Bristol Harbour Festival

Some of the members of Bristol Cruising Club bring their boats down to the city center of Bristol, for this annual event. it started in 1971 by Boaters to save the docks from being filled in now it has grown to one of the biggest events in the country.

During the festival, we as a club take part in several events, including the interclub challenge, cardboard Boat racing and Dingy Dinning.

The interclub challenge is great fun, Although Participants may get wet! We have had a lots of success in this event for many years.

The cardboard Boat Race is organised by The Bath and Bristol Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the education charity My Future My Choose supported by the Bristol Initiative Charitable Trust. Last year we took part with great enthusiasm. Are first Boat was a little over built and large, but we still beat Rolls Royce, this year designs are already being drawn.

A new venture last year was Dingy Dinning, as a Club it is traditional for us to go out for a meal on the Friday of the festival; but we decided to do things a little different and make a spectacle, with a black tie dinner floating around the docks.
